PTEC Announces a New Executive Director

The Pharmacy Technician Educators Council (PTEC) announces the selection of a new Executive Director for the longest standing national professional association for pharmacy technician educators.
Ann Barnes, Pharmacy Technician Program Coordinator at Tri-County Technical College, has been selected to represent the organization’s mission and vision for the coming future.
“I am honored and excited to be named Executive Director for PTEC,” said Mrs. Barnes. “I have always maintained that pharmacy technicians are the heart and soul of any pharmacy. They are the first and last points of contact with patients and customers; they are the ones that make those personal connections. That is only part of the reason why the executive director position is so important to me. The other is because a well-trained technician is an asset not only to the pharmacist but more importantly to patients and customers. Pharmacy technicians keep a pharmacy operating when everything around them is failing, and we need those pharmacy technicians to be at the very top of their game. They need to be educated not only to be of assistance to the pharmacist but to also provide the highest level of care possible for patients. The education our members provide is a necessity for the healthcare community. No other healthcare profession allows for their education to be solely ‘on the job’, and as pharmacy technician educators, we cannot allow that for our profession. I love the practice of pharmacy, and I love teaching a new generation how to love this profession that has been so good to me. My goal is to represent PTEC and its membership to promote the standardized, accredited education for all pharmacy technicians so they will continue to be the heart and soul of the pharmacy, providing the highest level of care, and be appropriately trained and educated to serve our communities.”
PTEC welcomes Ms. Barnes and looks forward to her insight and passion in helping to promote and advocate the mission and values of our organization.
