NABP Passes Resolution on Pharmacy Technician Education at the 111th Annual Meeting of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.
At the 111th Annual Meeting of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, held in June 2015, the NABP passed resolution 111-1-15 to collaborate and explore the various forms of pharmacy technician education in support of the evolution of the profession of pharmacy and the evolving roles of the pharmacist and pharmacy technician.

Title: Pharmacy Technician Education
Membership Vote: PASS
WHEREAS, the role of the pharmacist is expanding, which necessitates pharmacy technicians to perform expanded tasks to allow pharmacists more time to provide pharmacist care services; and
WHEREAS, education of pharmacy technicians is critical to fostering their expanded, supporting pharmacy role; and
WHEREAS, pharmacy technician education varies widely, is not being reviewed for consistency, and is not universally required;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that NABP collaborate with stakeholders to examine the various forms of pharmacy technician education in order to identify potential changes that would support the expanded pharmacy technician role.
